How often Resubmit sitemap? Will new sitemap fix errors?

Hi: This is my first site, so I don't know much. I submitted a sitemap when I signed up for webmaster tools. I reorganized my site a month or so later that has left me with a lot of 404 errors (which I've submitted to google for URL removal). The site once had over 300 Indexed pages to my site from Google. The site had some pretty strong links coming in, I made the mistake of 'redesigning' the site for easier use. video site map entries not showing up in google video

I have a video site and I have submitted both standard and video sitemaps ( [link] ) to google. They are UTF encoded and are reported indexed with no errors. 	xml.gz verses just the xml sitemap
